Returning to work after a period of time out should always involve the implementation of a controlled exercise program. Bones, tendons and muscle take time to strengthen and adapt to changes in workload. Duration and intensity should increase gradually in order to allow this remodeling to occur.
Here I am walking out with a lovely Highland pony- tackling the steep Devon hills on foot to build fitness, prior to asking her to increase the workload with a rider on board. Let's hope this weather improves soon!
